JIBITI Community Guidelines & Code of Conduct

Creating a Respectful and Inclusive Space

To maintain a space that is both safe and productive, all members of JIBITI agree to abide by our Community Guidelines. These are rooted in our core values of Dignity, Solidarity, and Collective Care.

Being a part of JIBITI means more than just having an account; it means being a Community Steward who protects the space for others.

1. Commitment to the Mission

Every member is expected to actively support the mission and vision of the JIBITI Community and Youth Initiative Foundation (YIF). This involves:

  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive environment for all.
  • Respecting the diversity of gender identity, ethnicity, economic status, and personal beliefs within our marginalized youth network.
  • Engaging with a solution-oriented mindset and a spirit of collaboration.

    2. The "Safe Space" Protocol (Confidentiality)

Given the sensitive nature of our work, Confidentiality is our highest priority.

    • What stays in, stays in: Keep all community discussions, member identities, and internal resources private.
    • No Unauthorized Sharing: Do not share internal content, screenshots, or member data with non-members without explicit written authorization from the Leadership Team.
    • Report Vulnerabilities: If you notice a security risk or a potential breach of privacy, report it immediately to the Community Coordinator.

    3. Professionalism and Respect

We foster a culture of kindness and mutual understanding.

    • Consent: Respect personal boundaries and digital consent in all interactions.
    • Zero Tolerance: Harassment, discrimination, hate speech, or any form of harm against fellow members is strictly prohibited.
    • Integrity: Avoid using the JIBITI or YIF name for personal gain or misrepresentation. All official representations must be pre-approved.

    4. Active Contribution (Co-Creation)

JIBITI is a co-creating community. Members are encouraged to:

    • Share their skills, knowledge, and time to uplift others.
    • Participate in Working Groups and Town Halls.
    • (Optional) Support the community through the 10% voluntary contribution from opportunities facilitated by JIBITI/YIF to help us remain self-sustaining.

      5. Accountability & Resolution

We operate a Restorative Accountability Model. We believe in learning and harm prevention rather than just punishment.

      • Conflict Resolution: If a conflict arises, we prioritize restorative dialogue facilitated by Community Representatives.
      • Suspension & Termination: In cases of severe violations—such as breaching confidentiality, fraud, or compromising community safety—membership may be suspended or permanently terminated.
      • Final Authority: The YIF Executive Leadership holds final authority on all safety-related decisions to ensure the protection of the entire ecosystem.

      How to Report a Concern

If you experience or witness a violation of these guidelines, please reach out through our secure channels:

      1. Direct Contact: Message your assigned Working Group Coordinator or Community Representative.
      2. Email: Send a confidential report to safeguarding@jibiti.youthinitiativef.org.

All reports are handled with the utmost discretion and urgency.
