Responsible Data Protection and Privacy Policy
Our Responsible Data Protection and Privacy Policy ensures that your identity is protected while allowing you to engage fully in community leadership.
We only collect the information necessary to verify your identity and support your participation. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with external third parties for commercial purposes.
To prevent unauthorized exposure, we categorize information into two levels of access:
- General Member Data: Information required for community functioning (such as your Alias, Pronouns, and Working Group interests). This is accessible to the Community Coordinator and authorized leadership to facilitate collaboration.
- Private Identity Data: Highly sensitive information (legal names, contact details, and verification documents). This is encrypted and strictly limited to the Executive Leadership of YIF. Community Representatives and volunteers do not have access to this data.
As a member of JIBITI, you have the following rights regarding your data:
- The Right to Pseudonymity: You are encouraged to use a chosen name or alias in all community spaces. Your legal name is only used for internal verification.
- The Right to Review: You may request a summary of the data we hold about you by contacting our Records team.
- The Right to Deletion (The "Right to be Forgotten"): If you choose to exit the community, you may request the permanent deletion of your personal records. This process typically takes 5-7 business days.
We employ institutional-grade security to safeguard our digital ecosystem:
- Encryption: All sensitive data is stored on secure, encrypted servers.
- Audit Logs: We conduct regular data cleanups and security reviews to ensure no outdated information remains at risk.
- Confidentiality Agreements: Every staff member and leader with access to community platforms signs a legally binding confidentiality agreement.
We encourage all members, especially those in the Affiliate and Ally tiers, to read our comprehensive policy to understand how we protect your information in the digital sphere.
