FAQs on Membership Benefits

What are the main benefits of joining JIBITI?

Every verified member, regardless of their tier, gains access to our safe-space platforms, a network of like-minded peers, and our Skills Marketplace. You also receive a Digital Membership Card and Certificate, which can be used as proof of your involvement in community-led social and environmental justice work.

What is the difference between "Member" and "Affiliate" benefits?

While both tiers have full access to the community, Affiliate members (those who pay annual dues) receive priority and advanced benefits, including:

  • Priority Access to Emergency Welfare Support.
  • Fiscal Hosting: The ability to use YIF as a legal umbrella for your own project grants.
  • External Representation: Opportunities to represent YIF at international conferences and media events.
  • Advanced Training: Access to specialized, high-level leadership workshops.

Can JIBITI help me with my professional career?

Yes. We offer Professional References and Recommendations for members in good standing. Additionally, our Skills Marketplace allows you to list your expertise for priority hiring within our network and partners.

What kind of "Emergency Support" is available?

Through our Emergency Support Outreach Clinic, we provide basic welfare assistance to members facing crisis.

  • Member Tier: Access to basic support and referrals.
  • Affiliate Tier: Priority access to emergency resources.
  • Note: 70% of all annual dues from Affiliates and Allies go directly into this fund.

Do I get to lead my own projects?

Absolutely. We encourage Co-Creation. Members and Working Groups can submit project proposals. If approved, YIF can act as your Host Organization, providing the legal and financial framework needed to implement your project and apply for grants.

Are there mentorship opportunities?

Yes. We facilitate a mentorship ecosystem where Ally Tier members (international partners) and Affiliate Members often serve as mentors. Members can apply to be mentees to develop specific skills in advocacy, digital security, or climate

Do members get paid?

JIBITI membership is a voluntary community commitment. However, when specific projects receive external funding (like grants), project team members drawn from the community receive appropriate stipends, allowances, or contractor payments for their work.

Can I get a scholarship through JIBITI?

Members are eligible to apply for scholarships and stipends for specific events, workshops, or conferences facilitated by YIF. Affiliate members receive priority consideration for these opportunities.
